What is the Tourist Accommodation Hospitality Kit?

The Tourist Accommodation Hospitality Kit is for people who are deaf or hard of hearing using standard accommodation within Bass Coast. It is also for accommodation providers who want to improve access for their client base.

The kit can increase the comfort and safety of people who are deaf or hard of hearing when hiring standard accommodation by providing them with a range of hearing resources that can be borrowed on an overnight or weekly basis.

The Tourist Accommodation Hospitality Kit is a project of the RuralAccess program.

Bookings for the Tourist Accommodation Hospitality Kit can be made through the Phillip Island Visitor information Centre on 1300 366 422.

Calls can be made with assistance from the National Relay Service. The National Relay Service is available as a phone solution for people who are deaf or have a hearing or speach impairment. More details about the National Relay Service are available on www.relayservice.com.au

The kit can be picked up and dropped off at the Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre at 895 Phillip Island Road, Newhaven. The centre is open from 9am-5pm 364 days a year, 1pm to 5pm Christmas Day. (hours are extended until 6pm during the Summer school holidays).

Hiring Requirements
Hire of the kit is free. A $50 refundable deposit is required at the time of pick up and will be refunded upon safe return of the Hospitality kit.

Pick up is from 2pm to close of business. Return is by 12 noon on the final day of hire.

A hirer agreement form must be filled out and signed at the time of pick up and payment (Visitor information Centre Staff can assist with this)

How long can I hire the Hospitality Kit for?
Peak Season (1 December to 28/29 February) Maximum three consecutive days.
Off Peak (1 March to 30 November) Maximum seven consecutive days.

If you wish to hire the kit for longer it may be possible if there are no follow on bookings. Please discuss options with the Visitor Information Centre Staff.
