Welcome To Bass Coast

Just over an hour from Melbourne you'll reach the spectacular Bass Coast, a perfect getaway for any season. Make your way through the brilliant green pastures of the hinterland, taking the time to stop and enjoy the many delightful townships and villages. As you reach the coast, the landscape transforms into ruggedly spectacular seaside vistas that can change to a wild, windy and awe inspiring spectacle in stormy weather. There are few coastlines in Australia that can claim the heritage, natural interest and scenic beauty of Bass Coast, so whatever the season - it is worth exploring.

Follow the majestic cliffs of the Anderson Peninsula near San Remo to Inverloch's sandy beaches where you'll find great swimming and surfing along with a wealth of other activities. Enjoy fishing, significant cultural sites and many kilometres of scenic walking tracks. Travel the Bunurong Coastal Drive enjoying the magnificent craggy rock faces, sandy coves and an opportunity to spot a variety of birdlife or even the occasional whale in season.

The Caves Beach holds pieces of our past with the amazing Dinosaur Dig and for a further taste of the region's history take a step back in time at the Wonthaggi State Coal Mine with an underground tour or a heritage walk around the Mine site.

Bass Coast is home to a bounty of fresh produce with the region's cafes and restaurants relishing the prospect to showcase it on their tables. Take the opportunity to meet the local farmers yourself at the regular Farmers' Markets throughout the region. Discover the small, family owned vineyards and wineries scattered throughout the hinterland and along the coast.
