The Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centres work in Partnership with local Tourism and Business Associations to ensure the best quality service and information is provided to visitors and locals alike. Uniquely in Victoria the Bass Coast Shire spans two distinct tourism regions. Mainland Bass Coast sits in the Gippsland region while Phillip Island is recognised as a region in its own right.
The Phillip Island Visitor information Centres have been working in partnership with the Phillip Island Tourism Association (PITA) for several years. The collaboration streamlined the membership process enhancing the advertising and promotional opportunities while extending the benefits for members. This partnership has enabled the Visitor Information Centres to work closer with industry and provide more accurate and timely information. The success of the partnership has seen the number of members grow year after year. More recently the collaboration has expanded to include the Phillip Island Retail and Business Association (PIRBA) and now operates under the banner of the Phillip Island and Surrounds Tourism and Business Partnership.
In mainland Bass Coast the partnership has seen the coming together of business and tourism associations from Inverloch, Wonthaggi and Grantville to work together with the Visitor Information Centres and form a strong, focused partnership to enhance the visitor experience and have a greater say, through collaboration, in the wider area. The Bass Coast Business and Tourism Partnership is set to become an increasingly strong force in the region.
